Memorial Quotes

This is a collection of memorial quotes that touched me after Sammy crossed the bridge. Some were emailed, posted or I just read them somewhere, but they all bring tears to my eyes. It is so unfair that dogs lives are so short. There are too many broken hearts out there...
"What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget."
"In some ways our dogs are the markers in our lives, bookmarks of the
chapters we live. Sometimes they get us through tough times, sometimes they
are there to teach us lessons, and always they are the loving steadfast
companions who give more than they could ever get from us. Although with
time, we know your sorrow will be tempered to memories, don't cry because it
is over, smile because it happened."
"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."~ Unknown
"Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die."
